Carme Marin, one of our vets who is based at the Bordon Surgery, has been offering acupuncture to our clients for the past few years.
Many of our patients have benefited from acupuncture treatment, mainly for the reduction of pain in chronic conditions, when the patient cannot be treated with conventional medicines for any reason or when conventional treatments can no longer control the pain and surgery is not an option.
Dogs, cats, and even rabbits and other small mammals tolerate acupuncture very well. It has also been used in avian patients.
We do not advise the use acupuncture as the first line of treatment, but it may help to reduce the dose of conventional medicines or treatments, or be used in addition, when they are not enough. Acupuncture can improve many conditions besides pain, such as hormonal imbalances, skin disease, dietary intolerance's, recovery from surgery, etc.
In June, we expanded our equipment with the acquisition of a more powerful electro acupuncture machine. If you require any further information, Carme who works Tuesdays, Wednesdays and alternate Thursdays and Fridays would be happy to discuss the benefits of acupuncture further with you.
